How does the Society operate? The Society is run by unpaid volunteers. Our committee meets monthly, and arranges representation on local groups of interest. Sub-committees look after particular specialist areas. Open meetings are held throughout the year. Social events range from talks to outings. We very much hope members of all ages will find something of interest in our programme - either social activities or the chance to get involved with issues affecting Retford. The current committee consists of:- Chairman Derek Turner Vice Chairman Robert Lamb Secretary Tina Jones Membership Secretary Pat Barnett Hon Treasurer Bruce Barnett Members Andy Massey Simon and Hillary Holdaway Barrie King Pam Barnsdale Joan Turner A copy of the constitution of the Retford Civic Society is held by the Membership Secretary and is available to all members on request. Subscriptions run from January each year for 12 months. At the beginning of the year members receive a programme card of events and a commercially printed Newsletter. They are welcome to attend the three Open Meetings which the Society organises during the year, and also to book for the visits organised throughout the year. At each of our Open Meetings we have an interesting speaker, and the visits are always very popular. See Subsciptions page for more details and how to pay. |
